Nov.16, Beijing -- A press conference was held in People's Congress Hall to declare the combined investment of US$30 million in Focus Media by Goldman Sachs, 3i and UCI China, which has made a new record of financing in domestic new media industry.

During 20 months from its establishment in 2003, Focus Media has now built up its China Commercial Building LCD-TV Broadcast Network which has covered nearlly ten thousand of top commercial buildings and 15 million people of high-income in 37 domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hongkong, ect. With its advertisement income of RMB 40 million per month, Focus Media has made a historical miracle to arouse astoundment from media and industry.

Focus Media shows its rapid development not only by these figures, but also by its unprecedented three times of large-scale financing within one and a half year. The 1st-round financing, taken place in May of 2003, powered Focus Media's expansion in China with the support from SOFTBANK (investor of Yahoo, E-TRADE ) and UCI. The 2nd-round financing of US$12.5 million from CDH (investor of Mengniu and Lining), DFJ (investor of kongzhong.com, Baidu.com) and UCI, taken place in April of 2004, helped Focus Media grow into the market leader. In November of 2004, another venture fund of US$30 million from the famous invest bank -- Goldman Sachs, the biggest VC in Europe -- 3i and UCI China was invested to assist Focus Media to build up a grand new ourdoor LCD-TV Ad network.
